The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner candidate faced a challenge in naming the Kapenguria 6 during the interview.
The interviews, which recently began in Nairobi at the College of Insurance South C, are set to end on April 25, 2025.
Among the candidates interviewed was James Keiro Letangule, who failed to name all the members but at least managed one ‘Jommo Kenyatta’ within the stipulated time on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
He also mistakenly named Dedan Kimathi as among the six Kenyan nationalities who were arrested in 1952 and tried at Kapenguria.
Apart from Jommo Kenyatta, the other members included Bildad Kaggia, Kung’u Karumba, Fred Kubai, Paul Ngei and Achieng’ Oneko.
IEBC Commission is responsible for conducting or supervising elections to any elective body or office established by the constitution.
It is made of seven commissioners and chairperson.
The commissioners are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Kenyan Parliament.
They, therefore, serve a six-year term and cannot be a member of any political party.
