Huldah Momanyi Makes History as First Kenyan Woman Elected to Minnesota House

Huldah Momanyi has won a seat in Minnesota house of representative.

The politician is originally from Nyamira County, Kenya.

She and her family moved to Minnesota when she was nine and since the Huldah has always built a remarkable reputation in public service.

She has made history as the first Kenyan citizen politician to hold office in the US.

She was running under Democratic Farmer Labour political party (DFL) party.

She won by 64.78 percent (10,005) votes against her Rival Brad Olson who garnered 34.95 percent.

Huldah based her campaign on issues like public safety, equitable housing and healthcare access, resonating with a diverse electorate which included a large immigrant population.

In her speech after victory, Huldah thanked her husband Momanyi as she said that she and her partner had just celebrated their tenth-year anniversary in the exact same year.

She appreciated her amazing children for loving he and claimed that whatever she was doing, she was doing for their future.

Huldah also said that she wanted to honor her parents who had been her source of courage and resilience throughout her entire life.

She therefore addressed the Kenyan community in the United States and the entire world claiming that the victory was not just hers but belonged to Kenyan as well.

During the same elections, Donald Trump also won as the President of the United States of America.
