The FKF Premier League match between Gor Mahia and KCB was called off right after the players completed their warm-up due to an unplayable pitch at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Originally scheduled for Sunday at 4:00 PM EAT, the match could not proceed after heavy rainfall hit the region just before kickoff, leading to the postponement.
The fixture has been rescheduled for Monday, April 7, at the same venue, starting at 10:00 AM. Match officials made the decision to cancel the game after inspecting the field and determining it was “unplayable.”
Before the postponement, both teams had already sent their players out for warm-ups, as they were preparing for the game to start at the usual time. Videos from spectators showed a waterlogged pitch, highlighting the concerning state of sports infrastructure in the country.
If Gor Mahia wins the match on Monday, they will narrow the gap to the top of the league to just three points while still having an extra game in hand.
