The Ministry of Health has received international recognition after the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards was honoured at the SDGs Awards 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday, December 14, Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni said the award underscores the department’s commitment to upholding professional standards and strengthening public health services in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The award comes barely a week after the Ministry of Defence received four national accolades for its performance, financial accountability, and leadership in public service.
Defence Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru said the ministry’s strong performance at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards highlights its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and sound financial management.
The ministry was recognised as the Overall Winner in the Public Sector Category and as a Top Performer among all government agencies.
Mariru added that two more honours were awarded over the weekend in Kisumu, highlighting the ministry’s continued excellence in public sector reforms and audit performance.
Mariru said the awards were officially presented to Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya at a ceremony held at Defence Headquarters, attended by senior officials and heads of departments.
He also commended the dedication and professionalism of both civilian and uniformed personnel within the ministry.
