Governor Sakaja Announces 3-Day Closure Of City Hall Way

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced a temporary three-day closure on City Hall Way between City Hall Way Roundabout and Parliament Roundabout.

In a recent notice, Sakaja noted that the section will be closed from Monday, March 17, 2025, at 8:00 AM to Thursday, March 20 at 3:00 PM.

According to the Governor, the closure of the City Hall way is to facilitate the setup and hosting of the WRC Safari Rally opening ceremony.

“The WRC  Safari Rally wishes to inform the public of a temporary road closure on City Hall Way, from City Hall Way Roundabout to Parliament Roundabout.This closure will be in effect from Monday, 17th March 2025, at 8:00 PM to Thursday, 20th March 2025, at 3:00 PM, to facilitate the setup and hosting of the WRC Safari Rally Opening Ceremony,” the statement read.

Sakaja also urged motorists to plan their journey in advance or use alternative routes to reach their destination.

He further called on motorists to cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals who will be deployed to the section.

“Motorists are advised to plan their journey in advance or use alternative routes, and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow,” Sakaja added.

Another major road facing a temporary closure is the Mombasa-Mtwapa-Kilifi Road which was announced a few days ago to facilitate the construction of the New Mbogolo Bridge.

The temporary closure will begin on Tuesday, March 18, and end on Tuesday, April 1. Motorists were also notified that they would be redirected to the old Mbogolo Bridge route until the project’s completion. 

Kenya is set to host the 2025 Safari Rally from Thursday, March 20, 2025 to Sunday March 23, 2025.
