Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has fired all Members of the County Executive Committee (CECM), the County Attorney, and the County Secretary.
In a press statement on Thursday, April 9, 2026, the governor said the decision was made in exercise of his constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and improved service delivery across the county.
“The Office of the Governor wishes to inform the public that, in the exercise of the constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and service delivery, the Governor has undertaken a reorganisation of the County Executive,” the statement read.
“Accordingly, subject to section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act, all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney, and the County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect,” the statement added.
According to Lusaka, the move was taken in good faith and in the public interest to facilitate the efficient functioning of the county administration and uphold the integrity of its institutions.
However, he did not appoint replacements.
“Further communication regarding interim arrangements and subsequent appointments will be made in due course, in accordance with the law,” the statement further read.
According to reports, the decision comes hours after the Bungoma County Assembly announced that it had received impeachment motions against a county officer.
The clerk directed that the motions be presented to the speaker and the house business committee for approval before being tabled before the county assembly.
