Kenyans stranded in Dubai in the midst of the ongoing United States-Israel vs Iran war have been repatriated to Kenya.
According to reports, the Kenyan citizens returned home aboard a Kenya Airways flight that had been scheduled to airlift them.
Among those who returned home on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the morning were a group of learners who had been stuck in Dubai on a school trip.
“This morning we welcomed back passengers from Dubai at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, safely reconnecting families and supporting travellers affected by the recent disruptions in the region. The repatriation service was operated following guidance from UAE authorities allowing limited operations at Dubai International Airport, enabling citizens and residents to return home safely”, the statement from Kenya Airways read.
The education trip to Dubai was nearing its end when Israel and the U.S. struck Tehran. The impact of that strike soon spread to Dubai, trapping the school group.
The learners therefore found themselves witnessing history first-hand, alongside the fear and anxiety that came with it.
“A huge appreciation to our dedicated flight crew, operations, and ground teams in both Nairobi and Dubai whose professionalism, planning, and coordination made this mission possible. Their commitment ensured the flight was conducted safely and efficiently under challenging circumstances”, KQ added.
