Government Introduces Three-Year Stipend And NSSF Contributions For New Mothers

The government has announced new collaborations that will provide stipend for young mothers and NSSF contributions for a period of three years.

According to reports, the Kenyan Government and the World Bank are ironing the details out.

Moses Kuria, the President\’s senior Economic Advisor Moses Kuria revealed that mothers will receive the monthly income during their pregnancies until their children turn three together with an accompaniment of monthly Ksh. 1,000 that will be paid to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to encourage saving culture.

We have a wonderful programme between the World Bank and the Kenya Government called the National Youth Opportunity Towards Advancement (NYOTA). NYOTA is an amazing program with two major components: enterprise and skill.

The President Economic Advisor said.

For the enterprise, we will be recruiting 100,00 young people in a randomized way from the locational level and we will give them some psychological training, skills training and then we will give them a grant of Ksh 50,000 to start business and then link them to larger industries for sub-contracting. 

He added.

He also revealed that after training programme, they will be getting monthly payments, and this will be part of countering the economic crisis that has been affecting the nation.
