Gor Mahia were officially crowned the 2025/26 FKF Premier League champions on Sunday despite suffering a 1-0 defeat against Nairobi United in their final match of the season at Nyayo National Stadium.

The defeat did little to spoil celebrations for K’Ogalo, who had already secured the league title before the final round of matches. Gor Mahia finished the season at the top of the standings with 69 points, five points ahead of their closest challengers AFC Leopards, to claim their record-extending 22nd league title.

The match attracted hundreds of supporters who turned up at Nyayo Stadium expecting both a competitive encounter and a championship celebration.

Nairobi United, however, produced a disciplined performance and managed to secure a narrow victory against the newly crowned champions.

Despite dominating sections of the game, Gor Mahia failed to convert their chances as Nairobi United remained organized defensively throughout the match.

The visitors capitalized on one of their opportunities to score the only goal of the encounter and deny K’Ogalo a winning finish to their successful campaign.

The result marked only Gor Mahia’s fourth defeat of the league season, underlining the consistency that helped them secure another domestic crown.

Throughout the campaign, the club demonstrated resilience in crucial matches and maintained a strong run that kept them ahead of their title rivals for most of the season.

Much of the attention after the final whistle shifted from the result to the trophy presentation ceremony. Players, technical staff and club officials celebrated on the pitch as they received the league trophy in front of their supporters.

Green and white colours dominated the stadium as fans cheered the team that has once again reinforced its position as the most successful club in Kenyan football history.

The title represents another major achievement for Gor Mahia, who continue to dominate Kenyan football. Winning the championship for the 22nd time further extends their record as the country’s most decorated football club.

The success also secures the team an opportunity to represent Kenya in continental football competitions, where they will seek to improve on previous performances.

Speaking after the season, club officials praised the players and supporters for their contribution to the successful campaign. The team’s consistency, defensive organization and ability to collect crucial points during difficult fixtures were widely viewed as key factors behind their title-winning season.

For Nairobi United, the victory provided a memorable conclusion to their campaign after defeating the league champions on the final day.

The result highlighted the club’s competitiveness against some of the strongest teams in the FKF Premier League and gave their supporters a positive ending to the season.

As celebrations continue among Gor Mahia supporters, attention will now turn to preparations for next season and upcoming cup competitions.

Having once again conquered the domestic league, K’Ogalo will be hoping to build on this success and strengthen their ambitions both locally and on the continental stage.
