Drama was witnessed in Murang’a County on Sunday, March 30, after an MCA’s car was badly damaged by goons during a church service.
According to reports, Kariara Ward MCA, Hon. Gichobe Mbatia’s car was pelted with stones while he was attending a church service at Mwagu AIPCA Church.

The incident took many locals by surprise, as it underlined the growing tensions among area leaders.
The motives and perpetrators have not been established and many believe that the incident was politically motivated, especially because Mbatia has shown interest in working with former DP Rigathi Gachagua.
Moreover the incident comes as President Ruto plans a 5-dys tour in the Mt Kenya region.
Ruto’s planned return comes months after his visit to the region in August 2024, when he was accompanied by his former deputy, Gachagua.
During the 5-day tour, the Head of State is expected to commission completed projects, inspect ongoing ones and launch others in Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Kiambu counties.
The projects that Ruto is set to inspect and commission include roads, affordable housing, fresh produce markets, electricity connectivity and water and irrigation.
