Gloria Orwoba Withdraws Legal Challenge to Reclaim Senate Seat

Former nominated United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Senator Gloria Orwoba has withdrawn a petition she filed at the Milimani Constitutional and Human Rights Division challenging her removal from the Senate.

Orwoba, through her lawyer, Ombaso, appeared before Justice Chacha Mwita, informed the court that he had filed a notice to withdraw a case filed on August 20, 2025, and requested that it be formally marked as withdrawn.

Orwoba had moved to the court seeking a conservatory order quashing a gazette notice dated May 21, 2025, declaring her position vacant.

She argued that the decision of her removal was unlawful and defective.

Orwoba had also sought conservatory orders blocking the swearing-in of her successor, Consolata Wabwire, who was nominated by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to replace her.
