A chief and a primary school teacher were killed in a suspected Al-Shabaab attack in Garissa on Sunday night.
Reports indicate that the two were ambushed and fatally shot by the militants at their homes in Hulugho town on January 25.
Garissa Member of Parliament Edo Udgoon Siyad confirmed the incident, describing the deaths as a major loss to both the affected families and the wider Garissa community.

He said the victims, Chief Abdi Gani Owl and the teacher, were committed public servants who had dedicated themselves to serving the Hulugho community.
Security agencies have intensified border patrols in the area and launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The attack comes amid heightened concerns over rising insecurity along the Kenya–Somalia border, driven largely by suspected militants crossing into the country from Somalia.
In a recent related incident, two border patrol officers were killed and several others seriously injured after their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device near Dadaab.
Days later, security forces shot dead a number of suspected militants attempting to infiltrate Kenya through the border, though the exact number of those killed was not disclosed.
