Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced plans to visit President William Ruto’s South Rift stronghold later this month.
Speaking during an interview on February 11, Gachagua said he will tour Mulot and Bomet towns on February 23, 2026, as part of a meet-the-residents visit.
The DCP party leader noted that his itinerary will begin in Narok Town, where he intends to thank locals for electing Douglas Masikonde as MCA in the November 2025 by-elections.

He will then proceed to Mulot before heading to Bomet town, both in Bomet County, a region widely regarded as President Ruto’s political base.
Gachagua noted that the visit is aimed at reconnecting with the Kipsigis community, which he noted has expressed interest in meeting him.
He went on to note that he has not yet had an opportunity to thank the Kalenjin community following the 2022 general election.
Gachagua maintained that he holds no grudge against the community, insisting his fallout is with President William Ruto after his impeachment.
According to him, the Kalenjin people were not responsible for his removal from office and noted that he has continued to defend their interests, adding that many of them are facing the same economic hardships as other Kenyans.
He further revealed plans to travel to Kisii, where he will hold engagements alongside former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for three days.
The upcoming tour will mark Gachagua’s first visit to President Ruto’s South Rift stronghold since his impeachment in October 2024.
