Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed displeasure over a thanksgiving service held by the Akorino church at State House, Nairobi on Sunday, April 12.
The church gathered at the State House grounds for a service attended in connection with President William Ruto.
Gachagua said the religious leaders attended in their individual capacities and insisted they were not representing the Mt Kenya region.

He further alleged that the event was politically motivated and that the clergy had been influenced to attend for optics, claims he said were tied to financial inducements.
The DCP leader further cautioned President William Ruto following a recent confrontation between Kikuyu elders and police in Githunguri.
The elders had gathered to perform cultural rites, during which they expressed opposition to the construction of affordable housing units on land they consider a sacred shrine.
The situation escalated when police fired teargas to disperse the gathering.
Gachagua described the use of force against the elders as disrespectful to the Mt Kenya community, accusing the state of undermining cultural heritage.
He further linked the incident to the earlier Akorino church service at State House, arguing that such religious gatherings could not erase what he termed as ongoing grievances within the community.
