The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to appear before the commission over remarks allegedly made during public events in different parts of the country.
In a summons dated Tuesday, August 18, NCIC said it is investigating utterances allegedly made by Gachagua at public forums in Vihiga, Kisii and Meru counties.
The commission identified an incident on June 12, 2026, in Luanda, Vihiga County, where Gachagua addressed a public rally.

NCIC is also probing remarks allegedly made on February 23, 2026, at Gusii Stadium in Kisii County during an address touching on political issues involving local leaders.
The former Deputy President is further being investigated over remarks made during his tour of Meru County between July 25 and July 28, 2026.
According to the commission, some of the statements made during the Meru tour touched on President William Ruto, the leadership of the Mount Kenya region and former Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Gachagua has been directed to appear in person before the commission on Thursday, August 27, at 2:00 pm.
The appearance will take place at the NCIC offices located at Britam Towers in Upper Hill, Nairobi, where he is expected to assist with the ongoing investigations.
The commission warned that failure to honour the summons could result in further legal proceedings, including the issuance of arrest warrants and possible criminal or contempt proceedings.
The summons comes a day after NCIC also summoned Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma over remarks he allegedly made in Homa Bay.
