Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is targeting him as part of a wider scheme to go after wealthy individuals from the Mount Kenya region.
Speaking in Wamunyoro, the former Deputy President alleged that he had received information that KRA officers were looking for him, despite maintaining that he has little left after previous government actions.
He suggested that if tax authorities wanted to pursue the matter further, they should arrest him or go after his family instead.

Gachagua also took aim at KRA Chairperson Ndiritu Muriithi, accusing him of using the tax agency to mistreat his own community while allegedly following instructions from President William Ruto.
He cautioned Laikipia residents against electing Muriithi as governor, questioning how someone could persecute a community and still expect to lead them.
The DCP leader further warned Laikipia East Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri against seeking the county’s top seat, labelling him a traitor due to his political allegiance to President Ruto.
On party matters, Gachagua assured that DCP would conduct a transparent nomination process before issuing tickets to candidates.
He clarified that taking photos with leaders at his home near the ‘I Love Wamunyoro’ banner did not amount to an endorsement of their political ambitions.
