Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed his support to Raila as the ideal candidate for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairman position.
The former DP took to his social media of Friday 14th February 2024 to acknowledge his support for Raila as the best fit candidate for the job.
“Kenya’s finest Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga is undoubtedly the best bet for the African Union Commission chairmanship. Africa deserves the best” he wrote.
According to Gachagua, the former Prime Minister’s win will promote unity across Africa regions, strengthening his worldview and unwavering championing for African people.
The former DP also stated that his win in Adis Ababa will imprint his quest for his Panafrican spirit that he has lived and championed.
“As a continent, we need a Raila Odinga character to gel the Anglophone and Francophone selves towards the continent of the future” he added.
He further described Raila’s victory as a progressive move for Africa and victory to his motherland.
“Raila Odinga’s win will be good and progressive for Africa. His victory will be a win for Kenya, our motherland”
The elections will take place on 15th and 16th February at the Ethiopian capital.
The elected candidate will be required to have gained support of two-thirds of the 55 AU member states which is 33 votes.
