Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has raised concerns over an alleged plan to disrupt his party’s upcoming rally in Kikuyu Town scheduled for Saturday, April 11.
In a statement released on Friday, April 10, Gachagua accused Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah and elements within the police service of plotting to cause chaos and derail the political meeting.
He pointed to earlier remarks made by Ichung’wah as evidence of escalating tensions, including comments allegedly made during a March 25 event at Alliance High School grounds attended by the Deputy President, as well as statements in Parliament on April 9 in which warnings were issued about plans to ferry goons into Kikuyu Town.

Gachagua maintained that these developments amount to coordinated attempts to frustrate the planned rally.
The former DP also questioned why no action had been taken against the MP, despite what he described as clear warning signs.
He claimed that although the MP had allegedly made statements suggesting awareness of potential criminal activity, authorities had not summoned him for questioning or taken any disciplinary steps.
The DCP leader moreover alleged that intelligence reports pointed to a coordinated plan involving hired groups and some police officers to disrupt the rally.
According to him, the alleged scheme would involve instigating chaos, vandalising businesses, and targeting specific establishments in order to trigger a police response that would ultimately derail the meeting.
He added that under the alleged plan, law enforcement would intervene using tear gas and live ammunition, effectively supporting the disruption effort.
The DCP leader further alleged that coordination meetings involving both suspected goons and police officers had already been held.
He pointed to an alleged gathering on April 9 at Kentmere Club along Limuru Road, which he claimed was attended by senior county security officials and formed part of the planning process for the purported operation.
Gachagua emphasized that his party operates within the law and has consistently held peaceful gatherings across Kiambu County and other regions, including recent meetings in Gatundu North, Juja, Kabete, and Githunguri constituencies.
He noted that the Democracy for the Citizens Party is legally registered and has conducted numerous orderly events, insisting there was no justification for singling out Kikuyu Town as a potential flashpoint.
He argued that any violence would be deliberately engineered.
The DCP leader also directed his remarks to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, urging him to ensure neutrality within the National Police Service and to protect citizens rather than be used to facilitate unrest.
He concluded by warning that senior security officials and political leaders would be held accountable for any incidents arising during the planned rally.
