Gor Mahia FC, the defending champions of the FKF Premier League, are preparing to appoint a new head coach. Croatian Sinisa Mihic is set to take charge of K’Ogalo as their new head coach.
The decision to hire the 48-year-old Croatian comes after a string of inconsistent performances from K’Ogalo. Mahia ha posted unsatisfactory results in the previous matches and are now eight points behind leaders Kenya Police, but with a game in hand.
Mihic, a UEFA Pro-license coach, has been appointed as the replacement for Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno. Otieno had been in charge of Gor Mahia for only three months after the dismissal of his predecessor, Leo Martins Neiva.
Following a barren draw with Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend, the Gor fraternity expressed disappointment with Zico.
Mihic has served as an assistant coach for Kuwaiti club Al Salmiya SC and had spells as head coach at Croatian third-tier side NK Crikvenica, Al Shabab – Kuwait, and Al-Fahaheel SC.
Notably, Mihic has experience working in Africa, having served as an assistant manager at Sudanese side Al-Merrikh in 2009, before taking up a similar role at the Libyan Premier League for Al Nasr in 2010.
