Filip Jorgensen is reportedly seeking a move away from Chelsea due to limited playing time at Stamford Bridge.
According to reports from England, the 24 year old goalkeeper has informed Chelsea of his desire to leave the club this summer after struggling to secure a regular starting position since joining the Blues from Villarreal in July 2024.
Chelsea signed the Denmark international for a reported fee of £20.7 million as part of the club’s long term rebuilding project under their new management structure. However, Jorgensen spent most of the recently concluded season as second choice goalkeeper behind Robert Sanchez.
The goalkeeper made 36 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea but only 11 of those matches came in the Premier League. Sources close to the player indicate that Jorgensen is now eager to leave in search of regular first team football ahead of the upcoming season and future international competitions with Denmark national football team.
Chelsea had previously rejected interest in the goalkeeper during the January transfer window after several clubs from England and Europe expressed interest in signing him. The London club is however now believed to be open to selling the player this summer and may not sign a direct replacement due to the expected return of highly rated goalkeeper Mike Penders.
Penders, who spent the 2025/2026 season on loan at RC Strasbourg Alsace, is expected to rejoin Chelsea ahead of next season after impressive performances in the French Ligue 1.
The 20 year old Belgian goalkeeper earned praise for his displays in France which eventually helped him secure a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad. Chelsea officials are reportedly confident about Penders’ future development and view him as one of the club’s promising young talents. Jorgensen joined Chelsea after impressive performances at Villarreal where he was considered one of the emerging young goalkeepers in La Liga.
Football analysts have linked his desire to leave Chelsea to the intense competition for places at the club and the importance of regular game time for goalkeepers at international level.
Chelsea are expected to make several changes to their squad during the summer transfer window as the club continues restructuring ahead of next season.
