Several people feared dead and others injured following a multiple-vehicle accident at Salgaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The incident, which took place on Saturday afternoon near Simba Cement, drew police and emergency responders to the scene to coordinate rescue operations.
According to reports, several vehicles were badly damaged in the crash, among them a long-distance truck, while ambulances and other emergency teams were seen responding to the scene.
Additionally, drivers have expressed concerns over their safety as local youth from the area have reportedly blocked the highway section.
The Local Drivers and Conductors Association (LODDCA) also warned motorists to exercise caution around the area.
“Accident alert. Just now! At Salgaa Simba Cement. Approach with caution,” LODDCA said.
However, the number of fatalities and casualties had not been established at the time of publication.
The crash has resulted in a heavy traffic snarl-up along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, with motorists using the route advised to approach the area cautiously as rescue efforts continue.
