At least two people have been confirmed dead following a fatal road accident in the Mwamba area, a few metres from Turbo Market along the Eldoret–Malaba highway.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred on Tuesday night when two trailers collided head-on and burst into flames.
According to witnesses, one of the trailers was attempting to overtake on a hill when it rammed into another lorry approaching at high speed from the opposite direction.

The impact of the crash killed both drivers instantly.
The collision caused a major traffic snarl-up along the busy highway as motorists and residents gathered at the scene.
At the time of publication, the exact number of people injured and the total number of passengers aboard the vehicles had not yet been confirmed.
Images shared online showed the two trucks engulfed in huge flames, with thick black smoke billowing into the night sky as bystanders watched helplessly.
The intense fire consumed the vehicles, leaving behind charred wreckage scattered across the road.
Emergency responders, including police officers and rescue crews, arrived shortly after the crash and worked to contain the blaze.
While they were able to extinguish the flames, the vehicles had already been completely destroyed.
Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and to assess whether speeding or reckless overtaking contributed to the deadly collision.
