Ex-Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Passes Away

Former Kirinyaga County Deputy Governor Julius Muthike Njiri has passed away.

He served as the first Kirinyaga Deputy Governor between 2013 and 2017 alongside Governor Joseph Ndathi.

Confirming the death, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru eulogized him as a leader who embodied service, knowledge, and enterprise.

Waiguru also extended her condolences to the family and friends of the former Kirinyaga Deputy Governor.

Kirinyaga Senator Murango Kamau also eulogized Njiri as a towering leader who was dedicated to serving the people of Kirinyaga.

The late Njiri took office in 2013 after being elected on a TNA ticket alongside then-Governor Joseph Ndathi.

Their working relationship, however, soon became strained, with Njiri accusing Ndathi of sidelining him and failing to allocate official duties.

He further lamented being denied transport and fuel allowances, in addition to having his official vehicle withdrawn.

After his term ended, Njiri returned to his academic pursuits and successfully earned a PhD in Business Administration from Miramar California University in 2022.
