Former political advisor Kimonge Geofrey of ex-governor John Muruttu has been ordered by the court to pay Ksh.12.4 million.
He allegedly embezzled from the county coffers in 2020.
According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kimonge is said to have fraudulently acquired the public funds by applying for imprest for fictitious activities while serving as a political advisor.
Voi Chief Magistrate Mildered Obura found him guilty of unjustly enriching himself with public funds contrary to the law.

The accused was therefore ordered to pay the government Ksh.12.4M together with interest at commercial rates from the date of acquisition until payment in full.
EACC launched investigations in 2020 which were meant to recover lost public funds after receiving a complaint back in August 2020.
According to reports, the former political advisor has fraudulently acquired a total of Ksh. 13.8M in the form of imprest purpotedly for allowances of Members of the County Assembly Wards and Staff in Taita Taveta.
The commission later on learnt that the imprest applied by Kimonge on diverse dates was fictitious, leading to the misappropriation of public funds.
