Erick Mutinda, a suspect in the killing of Multimedia University student Sylvia Kemunto has been charged with murder.
Appearing before Justice Diana Kavenza, Mutindi denied the charge of murder.
Court adjourned the matter to facilitate a mental assessment of the accused.

Justice Kavenza ordered that Mutinda be remanded at Nairobi Remand Prison and escorted to Mbagathi Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
The suspect was moreover denied bail at this stage, pending the submission of a report from the Probation Officer.
The State and the victim’s lawyer were directed to file and serve their affidavits within seven days.
The body of Sylvia Kemunto was recovered from one of the water tanks in a case of suspected murder after missing for a while.
The late Sylvia Kemunto was a first-year Mass Communications and Computer Science major.
She went missing on Sunday, March 30 and her decomposed body was discovered on Wednesday, April 2, police and the institution said.
She had been strangled and hit by a blunt object, and the motive is yet to be known, police said.
