The senior advisor to United States (US) President Donald Trump and X owner Elon Musk has confirmed that the massive outage on the social media platform is caused by cyberattack.
The massive outage affected X users, including Kenyans, and caused multiple periods of downtime.
In a statement on Monday, November 11 2025, in the evening, Musk announced that a large-scale cyber attack had caused multiple periods of downtime, preventing users from viewing posts on individual accounts.
He assured that efforts to restore normalcy were underway and that the team was working to trace the hackers.

According to the businessman, as the platform often experiences cyber attacks, yesterday’s incidents might have been carried out with more expertise, likely by a large, coordinated group.
“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against (X). We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved,” Musk stated.
During an interview with Fox News, the President’s senior advisor also alleged that the massive cyberattack was intended to bring down the X system, with IP traced to one of European countries.
