Edwin Sifuna Rally in Narok Disrupted by Teargas Canister

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi rally in Narok Town was almost teargassed temporarily halting proceedings.

According to reports, there were signs of trouble hours before the rally, as police reportedly ordered the removal of speakers ahead of the rally.

However, Sifuna remained defiant, insisting that authorities were duly informed of the Sunday rally

In the videos seen by Whisperswire, Sifuna, alongside Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, could be seen braving the teargas, as the pair urged the eager crowd to remain calm amid tensions.

The supporters, on the other hand could be heard vowing to stand their ground despite the unrest while others chanted anti-government slogans like ‘wantam’.

Afterwards, the two leaders continued to engage the crowd amid heavy smoke from the canister and rainy conditions.

According to reports, the Linda Mwananchi rally will now head to Nairobi County next week, where they will meet the Linda Ground faction of the party during the party’s planned national delegates convention (NDC).

This comes a day after Sifuna announced that his Linda Mwananchi Platform has gained under 25k followers.

He also used the moment to appreciate the public for their support.
