The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok, former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, and several business associates to its Nairobi headquarters over corruption allegations.
In a statement on Friday, August 29, 2025, commission stated that it had received permission from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to charge the officials.
“Today, the EACC received consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to investigate allegations of conflicts of interest against the Governor of Bomet County and allegations of public fund embezzlement against the former Governor of Bungoma County,” the statement read.
Regarding the matter, the suspects are required to present themselves at the Integrity Centre on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 8am for processing and arraignment.
