EACC Investigates Kisumu City Manager Over Fake Papers Used in Official Trip

Kisumu County City Manager Abala Wanga has been summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for alleged forged travelling and employment documents.

Reports indicate that the woman allegedly accompanied the city boss on an official four-day trip to Lagos, Nigeria, between July 8 and July 12, 2024, under the pretence of being a county employee.

The suspect is facing four charges which includes forgery contrary to section 345 as read with section 349 of the Penal Code which deals with the punishment for forging documents or electronic records.

The other charge is fraudulent acquisition of public property, contrary to section 45(1) as read with Section 48(1) of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, 2003.

“Consequently, the Commission hereby directs Mr Michael Abala Wanga, the Kisumu County City Manager, to present himself at EACC Headquarters, Integrity Centre, Nairobi, immediately for processing and arraignment”, part of the statement read.
