According to the charges, the two not only caused damage to the law courts but also to other government establishments within the vicinity.

“On the 25th day of June, 2025 between 1200 hours and 2300 hours in Kikuyu area within Kiambu County, you and others before court, committed a terrorist act which resulted to serious damage to Government Offices and Buildings,” the charge sheet read in part.

Kawanjiru who is the DCP Youth leader was on July 1 picked up by officers from the Director of Criminal Investigations who forcibly took him from his home at night as his family watched.

Four days later, he was presented in court.

However, despite being released by the court, drama followed outside the Ruiru Courts, Kiambu County after anti-terror police rearrested the DCP leader.

Kawanjiru had just secured a bond for his release and was heading home when chaos erupted.
