Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has addressed the chaos that erupted during the new party launch of Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement on Thursday, May 15, 2025, condemned violence, stating that such acts threaten to sabotage the country’s democratic progress.
“Our country must exercise democratic tolerance and embrace issue-based politics. Insults, violence and divisive rhetoric as a means of processing political differences of opinion have no place in our society”, Kindiki stated.
“We owe to the current and future generations a nation built on peace, peaceful coexistence, and respect for one another even when we disagree on issues of policy”, he added.
According to reports, chaos erupted moments after the launch of Gachagua’s new party, the Democracy of Citizens Party (DCP).
This was after suspected goons tried to interfere with the event as Gachagua, alongside his new party launch officials were leaving the venue.
Fortunately, after a few minutes, the tension at the event subsided.
