DCI Uncovers CCTV Trail in Alleged Staged Tuju Abduction

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has maintained that the reported disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju was a staged.

In a press statement on Friday, April 3, 2026, the DCI said findings from CCTV footage, witness accounts, and other evidence did not match claims of an abduction.

“After a thorough and meticulous inquiry, investigators have established beyond doubt that the alleged disappearance and abduction of Hon Raphael Tuju was in fact a staged and self-orchestrated incident,” DCI stated.

According to DCI, the incident began on March 21 at 6:46pm when Tuju’s vehicle departed Entim Sidai Hotel before making a brief roadside stop.

It was then that the driver of Tuju’s car interacted with the driver of a white Toyota Probox, in what detectives believe was a pre-arranged meeting.

The two vehicles then proceeded in different directions, with Tuju’s car captured at 6:52pm heading toward his residence, while the Probox was seen at 7:03pm joining the main road toward Ngong.

At 7:04pm, Tuju’s vehicle was captured moving toward Karen Shopping Centre, as the sequence of movements continued to unfold.

The footage later showed the two vehicles converging along Nandi Road, where at 7:11pm the Probox was seen closely trailing Tuju’s vehicle.

Both vehicles were then captured heading toward Miotoni Road in what investigators describe as a coordinated movement.

At 7:17pm, Tuju’s vehicle arrived at Miotoni Lane and parked with hazard lights on before the Probox pulled up a minute later.

Afterwards, three individuals exited Tuju’s vehicle and entered the Probox, which then departed the scene at some seconds later.

However, the probox was later on captured at around 7:38pm heading toward Tuju’s residence.

This prompted the investigators to come to the conclusion that it was a carefully orchestrated operation.
