A team of investigators, led by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) in Isinya, collaborated with Crime Scene Investigators to meticulously record the scene and preserve critical evidence, including spent cartridges, for further examination and subsequent police action.

DCI further explained the role of forensic experts and the review of surveillance footage at the crime scene.

On January 26, 2026, a specialized team from the National Forensic Laboratory, including ballistics, imaging and acoustics, and crime scene specialists, conducted a detailed examination of the secured lounge.

Additional evidence was collected, and available CCTV footage was reviewed and analyzed to support the investigation.

The DCI also handled firearms surrendered by individuals under investigation. Three such firearms were submitted for ballistic analysis, with the corresponding forensic reports provided to the investigation team.

Upon completion of the investigations, the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCIO) in Isinya forwarded the duplicate investigation file, along with a comprehensive brief and recommendations, to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Kajiado on February 2, 2026, for review and direction.

DCI disclosed the charges it has recommended against suspects in connection with the death of Kevin Shepashina Maseli and the shooting of Joseph Kasio.

The inquiry recommended that five individuals be charged with murder, under Sections 203 and 204 of the Penal Code, for the death of Kevin Shepashina Maseli.

They are also to face attempted murder charges, under Section 220, in relation to Joseph Kasio, who remained hospitalized during the investigation.

The agency is now awaiting guidance from the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and will proceed according to the directions provided.
