DCI Seizes 55 Bags of Subsidised Fertiliser in Migori Crackdown

Detectives have arrested three women and recovered 55 bags of government-subsidised fertiliser suspected of being sold illegally in Migori Township.

In a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the arrests followed a tip-off from members of the public about the suspected illegal sale of the fertiliser.

Detectives from Suna East acted on the information and raided the Apida area in Suna Central Location, where they found fertiliser marked β€œNOT FOR SALE” being offered for sale.

The officers arrested three suspects during the operation and questioned them about the consignment. The women subsequently led detectives to their respective stores, where officers conducted further searches.

The searches resulted in the recovery of 55 bags of government-subsidised fertiliser, which detectives seized as exhibits in the investigation.

The suspects, identified as Esther Mwera, Emily Akinyi and Elizabeth Kisili, were escorted to Migori Police Station alongside the recovered fertiliser. Police booked them pending further action.

The DCI commended members of the public for providing information that helps detectives uncover suspected criminal activities and protect public resources.

The agency urged the public to continue sharing information with law enforcement officers to support efforts to combat crime and prevent the misuse of government resources.
