DCI Refutes Reports of Death at Kiambu Road Headquarters

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed claims that a DCI officer was found dead at the directorate’s Headquarters along Kiambu Road.

In a statement on Monday, February 23, 2026, DCI confirmed that the officer in question lassed away on Saturday,February 21, 2026.

This followed an incident at his home in Ngong where the officer was found lying unresponsive in his kitchen garden in Ngong by a neighbour’s house help.

This followed reports by the neighbour about the death.

“Preliminary scene documentation conducted by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers, alongside personnel from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), identified a live electrical wire beneath the surface of the garden, which is believed to have caused electrocution as he tilled the land,” DCI stated.

“As investigations continue, we respectfully urge the public to refrain from speculation and to allow the family the privacy and dignity they deserve as they grieve this immense loss,” it added.

The incident having been reported at the Ngong Police Station, the authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of his death.

“The entire DCI family extends our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Corporal Muiruri. We mourn with you the loss of a beloved son, colleague, and dedicated officer. May God grant you strength, comfort, and abundant grace to carry you through this painful time,” DCI further stated.
