A Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer attached to the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) has been detainer following alleged theft of Ksh60 million.
According to reports, the officer is set to remain in custody at Lari Police Station in Kiambu County until July 27 pending a ruling on whether his detention will be extended as investigations progress.
Reports indicate that the court order came after the prosecution had sought orders to detain him for 14 days to facilitate further inquiries into the case.
The officer was arrested on July 22 over claims that he acted alongside other officers and civilians in carrying out the robbery of funds belonging to a company.

According to the investigators, the suspects kidnapped two employees who had been tasked with transporting Ksh60 million from Nairobi to Migori on June 29.
The workers are said to have left at about 9pm in a private vehicle before they were intercepted by armed men travelling in three vehicles with concealed registration plates.
According to investigators, the attackers, who were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles, restrained the victims before stealing the cash and phones valued at Ksh65,000.
Further reports indicate that the victims were later abandoned along Mai Mahiu Road after the robbery.
Detectives told the court that preliminary investigations connected one of the stolen phones to the DCI officer on the day of the incident.
Investigators further suspect that additional police officers participated in the operation, with some reportedly wearing police uniforms during the alleged robbery.
