A baby who was allegedly stolen after the childβs mother was lured with a fake job offer has been rescued.
During the operation, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested four suspects linked to the incident.
In a statement issued on Saturday, July 18, 2026, the authority said the infant had been safely reunited with the mother following an intensive investigation that culminated in the suspectsβ arrest in Embakasi.
According to the DCI, the incident began on July 8 in Pipeline, Embakasi, when a mother searching for employment met a man who claimed he could secure her a job at a nearby hotel.
Detectives said the suspect allegedly exploited the womanβs circumstances by persuading her to leave her baby with a woman he introduced as a nearby business owner while they completed the job arrangements.
However, the man allegedly disappeared moments later. When the mother returned to collect her baby, both the woman and the infant had vanished. She immediately reported the matter at Kware Police Station after failing to reach the two suspects.
The DCI said detectives from Embakasi launched investigations that led to a breakthrough on July 16.
The rescued child has since been reunited with the mother. The four suspects, identified as Callen Moraa, Frida Moraa, John Oyweri and Geoffrey Murayi, remain in police custody and are undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
