The Director of Criminal Investiagations (DCI) have apprehended a former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) special forces officer linked to alleged criminal activities in Nairobi’s Eastlands area.
According to a statement by the DCI, the suspect was nabbed following a tip-off from members of the public.
The authorities revealed that they tracked him to a hideout within the Kayole dumpsite area, in Embakasi, where he was arrested during a targeted operation.
“Acting on a tip-off from alert members of the public, detectives launched a targeted operation that led to the arrest of the former KDF special forces officer at his hideout within the Kayole dumpsite area,” DCI stated.
The suspect is said to have later led officers to his residence, where a search uncovered several items believed to be government stores and military gear.
Among the items recovered were one round of 9mm ammunition, military shirts, military working dress, a smoke jacket, military trousers, a military bag, and a military jackknife.
The suspect was further taken into custody and arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi, where he faced charges of possessing ammunition and government stores.
However, the Ex-KDF soldier pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh1 million or an alternative cash bail of Ksh500,000, with the mention of the case set for June 2, 2026.
Following the raid, the DCI has urged members of the public to continue sharing information anonymously through its toll-free line and WhatsApp platform as part of efforts to combat crime in the country.
