The National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA) recently launched a five-day training program for officers from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
The program started on Monday, August 10, and is focused on improving how these officers gather, study, and use information in their daily work.
The main goal of the course is to sharpen the officers’ intelligence profiling and analytical skills. In simple terms, this means teaching them how to look at raw information, figure out what is important, and turn it into useful intelligence.

This skill is very important because it helps the officers spot hidden risks, detect unusual patterns, and make better decisions when carrying out their duties. With better analysis, they can also predict possible problems before they happen and take action early.
At the opening ceremony, NCIA Commandant Ibrahim Jillo spoke on behalf of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. He reminded the participants that this training is a great opportunity to grow their abilities.
He also stressed that the real value of the training would be seen when the officers return to their workplaces and start applying what they have learned to improve their performance.
Prisca Mutindi, who represented the KRA, also addressed the officers. She agreed that the success of the program depends on how well the officers use their new skills on the job.
Mutindi added that these improved skills would help KRA strengthen its enforcement operations, identify threats more quickly, and stay ahead of those who try to avoid paying taxes.
Overall, the training aims to make KRA officers more alert, skilled, and ready to protect the country’s revenue.
