Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya on Tuesday, October 14, presided over the launch of the 2025 nationwide Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment drive at the Defence Headquarters.
During the event, Tuya emphasized the government’s firm commitment to transparency and accountability in the recruitment process, warning that any form of corruption or malpractice would not be tolerated.
She further noted that the Defence Ministry is collaborating with key investigative and oversight bodies to guarantee a fair, credible, and merit-based exercise across all recruitment centers.

Tuya moreover stated that the recruitment drive is not merely about filling vacancies within the military but about identifying individuals with the commitment to serve.
She acknowledged that previous KDF recruitment exercises have at times been marred by allegations of irregularities, noting that investigations into such claims have resulted in arrests and disciplinary measures where misconduct was proven.
The CS however, clarified that the majority of the reported cases involved fraudsters impersonating military officials, warning the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to authorities.
This comes days after Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri warned KDF recruitment officers against any form of malpractice ahead of the 2025 exercise.
Speaking at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday, October 9, Kahariri emphasized integrity, transparency, and professionalism, noting that public trust in the military depends on a fair and merit-based process.
He revealed that the KDF has adopted new digital systems to enhance verification and curb corruption, warning that any officer found compromising the exercise’s integrity would face immediate disciplinary action.
