Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi on Tuesday, January 14, was driven to Kilimani Police Station to record a statement over the abduction of his son at the height of the anti-government protests in June.

In the footage shared online, the CS seen arriving at the station, met the Kilimani OCS among other police bosses who later engaged in a conversation that the media was shut out of.

This comes days after the CS criticised the government about the increased abductions in the wake of the protests.

His comments came as a huge surprise as it was perceived as going against the grain. This has resulted in speculation mounting over his future in President William Ruto’s government.

Addressing the media on January 12, Muturi highlighted that little was done to secure his son’s release despite his standing at the time. He served as an Attorney General and a member of the National Security Council.

Hours later, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations responded, inviting him to record a statement noting that his son’s case was already on record at DCI Kilimani.

“The alleged case of abduction involving CS Justin Muturi’s son is active before DCI Kilimani. We wish to invite CS Muturi and any other person with information on the incident to record a statement with DCI Kilimani,” they noted.

Muturi’s comments were met with a fierce rebuttal from leaders among then being Aldai MP Marianne Kitany went as far as demanding for his resignation adding that she would file a censure motion in Parliament if he failed to step down.
