Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has dismissed a fake viral letter going round on social media that purported to explain delays in paying contracted professionals involved in the 2025 national examinations.

In a statement on Thursday, April 23, 2026, Ogamba declined the letter, stating that it did not originate from its office.

“The document currently circulating is fake. I urge the public to treat it with the contempt it deserves,” Ogamba stated.

The letter, which bore the Ministry of Education letterhead and Ogamba’s name, claimed to have noted the concerns raised by examiners who participated in the 2025 national examination and to have moved to address key concerns.

According to the letter, no funds had been allocated in the supplementary budget to pay supervisors, invigilators, security personnel, and exam markers.

“No funds were allocated for this expenditure in the supplementary budget, which has contributed to the delay,” the letter read.

The letter also claimed that the CS recognised the role of stakeholders during the exam period and that their contributions remain central to the successful execution of the exam calendar.

The document further stated that the examiners would be paid in the next financial year, which starts on July 1, 2026.

Additionally, the ministry was engaging the treasury to secure the required budget provisions and would facilitate disbursement on time once the funds became available.
