Former prison warden Jackson Kihara, also known as Cop Shakur, has announced his bid for the Kasarani parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
According to him, he wants to bring accountable and people-centred leadership to the constituency.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Cop Shakur said he had decided to vie for the seat because he believed Kasarani residents deserved leaders who listen to their concerns and serve their interests.
“I’ve chosen to step forward because I believe Kasarani deserves leadership that listens, leadership that serves, and leadership that is accountable to the people,” he said.
Additionally, Cop Shakur said his decision to venture into politics was informed by his experience standing up for justice, human rights and accountability, even when doing so came at a personal cost.
He challenged Kasarani residents to take a more active role in determining the constituency’s political future instead of repeatedly complaining about challenges while leaving the same political class in charge.
Cop Shakur further said his campaign would focus on the future of the constituency, the dignity of residents, opportunities for young people and improved public services.
