Citibank Kenya is set to close its Mombasa branch as part of a plan to consolidate its physical operations and centralise corporate banking services at its Nairobi headquarters.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, August 26, the bank announced that the transition will take effect on November 30, 2026, following the necessary regulatory approvals.
The move is part of Citi Kenya’s strategy to streamline its corporate banking network and expand its reliance on digital banking services.

Following the closure, corporate banking services will be managed from the bank’s Nairobi headquarters, while customers will continue accessing institutional banking products through CitiDirect and other electronic platforms.
Citibank assured customers that the closure would not affect the availability, security or continuity of the products and services they currently receive.
Customers will also continue receiving support from their Relationship Managers and Citi Kenya’s Client Service teams, who will remain available to assist with their banking needs.
The bank clarified that the closure of the Mombasa branch does not amount to an exit from the Kenyan market.
Citibank Kenya moreover noted that it remains a fully licensed banking institution and will continue supporting its clients and contributing to the development of Kenya’s financial sector.
