The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has ordered the closure of Chiromo Hospital located in Lavington, Nairobi.
This follows the death of Toto Touch CEO Susan Kamagere, whose demise was linked to a staff member at the hospital.
Health CS Adan Duale issued a letter calling for the suspension of the facility.
He has also called for the transfer of all the patients at the hospital 24 hours after receiving the letter dated Saturday, July 25, 2025.

“The above captioned subject, our letter referenced Ref: KMPDC/DEC.GEN/2025/21 and the Council inspection of your facility on 18th July, refer. Following further reports indicating the possible involvement of a member of your staff in the death of Ms. Susan Kamengere Njoki, the Council issues the following directives effective immediately,” read the statement
According to KMPDC, Chriomo Hospital should provide a post-mortem report, all reports regarding the patient, and steps to be taken to prevent such an incident from happening in the future.
