Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has jokingly offered to be Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s running mate in the 2032 Presidential polls.
According to Cherargei, Sifuna’s strong performance in the latest presidential popularity poll shows he could be a strong presidential candidate, despite not declaring a bid.
Speaking during a Senate debate, Cherargei referenced the latest Infotrak survey, which placed President William Ruto in the lead with 32 per cent support, followed by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 13 per cent, with Sifuna and former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i tied at 12 per cent each.
“I saw the Infotrak survey and I am happy that President William Ruto will vanquish and trash his opponents,” Cherargei said.
My brother Sifuna is at 12 per cent, though he has not declared that he is running for president, so he is doing very well. In the next six months he will be number two,” he added.
However, he said yhat in politics, only first place counts.
“But the problem in politics is there is no number two, my brother. And you have been told by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli to look for money for campaigns”.
Cherargei then jokingly suggested that Sifuna to remain as the senator for Nairobi and eye the presidency in 2032.
