Chelsea Comeback from 0-2 to Share Spoils with Ipswich at the Bridge

A strong second-half performance allowed Chelsea to fight back from two goals down against Ipswich Town, but they were unable to secure a winner to collect three crucial Premier League points.

Enzo Maresca’s side had dominated the first 19 minutes of the match before suffering a setback when Julio Enciso successfully guided a cross from Ben Johnson into the net. Soon after, the Ipswich full-back became a goalscorer himself, heading in a second goal just after the half-hour mark.

However, Chelsea responded effectively after the break and reduced the deficit just 18 seconds into the second half when pressure from Marc Cucurella forced Axel Tuanzebe to turn the ball into his own net.

Chances came and went, and it wasn’t until the 79th minute that the Blues equalized when Jadon Sancho curled an excellent shot into the top corner.

Chelsea pushed hard for a winner in the remaining time, with Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez coming close, but ultimately, they had to settle for a draw instead of all three points.

Following today’s draw, the Blues sit fifth in the Premier League table and will return to UEFA Conference League action on Thursday evening to play the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Legia Warsaw, holding a 3-0 advantage heading into the match.
