Chebisaas Boys Students Stage Protest Over Disappointing Concert

Students from the Chebisaas Boys High School in Eldoret on Saturday night took to the street to protest an alleged disappointing concert.

While under the dim lighting of street lights, the students marched on the highway towards Eldoret City, whistling and chanting.

According to reports, the students had been promised a concert if they paid Ksh250 each, but were disappointed by the choice of the artist.

It is reportedly that the school administration chose a local vernacular musician, something that did not resonate well with the boys, who saw it as blatant tribalism.

In the videos shared online, the high schoolers were heard chanting as they walked along the Kisumu Road with motorists stopping to let them through.

Moreover, some of the students were even seen covering their faces with clothing.

Information on whether and how the night riots ended has yet to be communicated.

This is the latest case of high school students protesting during the weekends over the past few weeks.

On Wednesday, July 17, St. Patrick’s Iten Boys High School in Elgeyo Marakwet County was closed indefinitely after students staged a violent protest which resulted in destruction of school property.

The strike was a result of the students reportedly opposing sitting this term’s examinations, prompting the administration to send all learners home as a precautionary measure.
