Botswana’s New First Lady Kneels Before Husband During His Inauguration Ceremony

Botswana’s first lady, Kaone Boko kneels before husband as a sign of respect.

This was during the inauguration ceremony of her husband Advocate Duma Boko who was being sworn in as the 6th President of Botswana.

The inauguration ceremony took place at Gaborone on 8th November 2024 where the president took his oath.

During the inauguration, his wife who was dressed in a light purple dress was seen kneeling before him as a sign of respect and love towards the President.

I will maintain the constitution of Botswana and uphold the laws, and that I will direct my abilities to the service and welfare of the people without fear or Favour, affection or ill-will. So, help me God.

President Duma Boko said as he took his oath of office at the office of the chief justice three days after elections.

During his acceptance speech, the president said that he wanted to secure investor confidence as well as ties with mining companies active in Botswana while exploring ways to diversify the diamond-dependent economy, a measure seen as critical to stabilizing the country’s finance.
