Boma Yangu Issues Alert on Fake Affordable Housing Transactions

The Affordable Housing Board (AHB) has cautioned the public against engaging with a private real estate agency that falsely claims to sell government houses.

In a statement on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the Board cautioned that the company has no affiliation or association with the Boma Yangu Affordable Housing Program and is not authorised to act on its behalf.

“Note that the said company is not authorised to facilitate or offer housing units under the program,” the Board wrote.

According to the board, any claims that the company is facilitating , offering or selling under the government initiative is false.

The warning follows a promotional material advertising affordable houses for sale, detailing prices, deposits and monthly payment amounts.

The advertisement, shared by AHB, featured official-looking logos to copy typical branding, which likely made it appear legitimate at first glance despite being flagged as fake.

The flyer contained a listing structure similar to official government communication, using the same housing categories of social, affordable, and middle-class tiers.

It also detailed various unit types, including studios, one-bedroom and multi-bedroom apartments, alongside structured pricing.

The advert also mirrored official Boma Yangu pricing, particularly within the social housing tier. Similar details include a social housing studio (20 SQM) listed at Ksh640,000 with a monthly payment of Ksh3,900, a one-bedroom unit (30 SQM) at Ksh960,000 with Ksh5,350 per month, and a two-bedroom unit (40 SQM) at Ksh1,280,000.

However, inconsistencies in pricing and unit sizes crop up in the affordable and middle-class tiers.
